Traditional breast reductions - in contrast to the "Asplund Vertical Minimal Scar Technique" - have an additional scar all along the sub mammary fold. We perform the traditional breast reduction because in very large breasts sometimes it is not possible to use the "Asplund Vertical Minimal Scar Technique".

More details about traditional breast reduction

This is a breast reduction technique Dr. Olle Asplund has used for 30 years. It is very safe and gives a good shape and is suitable for very large breasts.

If your breasts are very large you will know how difficult and uncomfortable physical activity can be. You are probably used to back pain and breast pain and may even experience postural problems and sometimes skin rashes beneath the breasts. Often women wear loose clothing to conceal their breasts, they also might have feelings of embarrassment and depression.

In the field of smaller and medium sized breast reductions surgery has evolved dramatically over the years and new techniques such as 'Asplund vertical scar breast reduction' has been developed.
However, in very large breasts, to achieve the best results we use the traditional breast reduction method because of the following reasons:

  • More predictable end result in very large breasts
  • Better shape in big breasts
